Gottfried Windmöller and Hermann Hölscher founded
Windmöller & Hölscher in Lengerich
Company purpose:
Conversion of paper into cone shaped bags and capsules

1877
Three days after the Imperial Patent Office is founded in Berlin,
Hermann Hölscher files patent application for manufacture of
his cone shaped bag machine (patent number 130)

1878
Decision is made to begin in-house machinery construction:
W&H becomes machinery supplier

1880
Single color and rotary printing press for sheets and bags

1884
Production halls are built on company property

1885
Inception of company health insurance company

1894
First cross bottom bag machine

1913
W&H now has 230 employees
Customer base comprises 311 companies, 180 of those outside of Germany
